In Broc, construction work on the future school complex has begun. This municipal project includes the construction of two new buildings housing kindergarten and primary school classrooms, facilities dedicated to after-school care, a multipurpose hall, and an underground car park. Located in the immediate vicinity of the existing school, the new structures will be built partially above the current civil protection shelter.

The project commenced with infrastructure works. The teams first carried out the diversion of existing utility networks in order to free the areas required for the forthcoming earthworks and construction activities.

Operations then focused on drilling works for the piles forming the excavation support system. The retaining structure has been designed as a self-supporting soldier pile wall consisting of piles with shotcrete infill, a solution that secures the excavation while adapting to site constraints and the proximity of existing infrastructure.

The first earthworks operations have also started. They are accompanied by the initial phases of shotcrete application, installed progressively as the excavation advances in order to ensure ground support and excavation stability.

In parallel, a heritage fountain classified in Category 1 was lifted following preliminary blasting works required for the installation of the steel lifting frame. These underpinning works were carried out in four phases to minimize disruption to load transfer and prevent any cracking of the fountain’s masonry.

These initial interventions are required for the construction of the underground car park. The next stages will focus in particular on the construction of the load-bearing structures.
