“New year, new project!
In collaboration with LOCALARCHITECTURE, INGPHI won the competition for the “Chez-le-Maître” school and sports complex in Le Chenit.
This extension project fits into the morphology of the existing building complex, which is characterized by a series of volumes articulated around a central courtyard (the school playground) and forming a comb punctuated by small courtyards opening onto the surrounding landscape.
The project articulates a final branch to the whole complex in order to extend the school and accommodate a new triple sports hall. The project is structurally simple and rational, applying the principle of “the right material in the right place” throughout. Thus, the underground structures are made of reinforced concrete, the triple hall is made of wood and the school is made of wood with mixed wood-concrete slabs.
For both the school and the triple hall, the regular grid of load-bearing elements and the simplicity of the load descent allow the use of optimized and repetitive load-bearing systems.
