Rehabilitation of pavement joints on several bridges

The N21 Martigny – Grand St-Bernard national highway has been part of the national highway network (NAR) since 2020. The poor general condition of this section requires major work to be carried out over a ten-year period from 2025 to 2035.

For the bridges on this section, the pavement joints and bridge ends are the elements showing the most advanced deterioration, due to waterproofing problems, stresses and unsuitable construction details.

This year, small-scale constructive maintenance measures (KBU) are being carried out on around ten structures to maintain their substance until the major refurbishment work is completed. These repairs include replacement of waterproofing and surfacing on both sides of the pavement joints, replacement of wear elements or replacement of the pavement joint if necessary, and improvement of end details.
