Preparatory work, earthworks and piles

Work on the new Colovray Sports Centre has begun with network connections, archaeological excavations, stripping and earthworks of almost 20,000 m3. The heavily clayey soil in place required stabilization with lime in 40 cm layers to facilitate earthworks and enable storage and reuse of the excavated material.

A large proportion of the topsoil and all the excavated material are stored on site and will be reused to backfill the parafills and shape the landscaped area.

Drilling of the 90 800 mm diameter continuous auger piles is underway and will continue until the end of the month.
