On the Paudèze bridges, steel structures named “fly-overs” were installed to allow a continuous flow of the traffic while working on the abutments. At the end of the month of October, these fly-overs were dismounted, as initially planned. This marked the end of the works on the highway for 2017. The four new abutments are now in use and the works on the foundations continue under the bridge. New tiebacks will be placed, and the anchor blocks as well as the top concrete rings of the retaining foundation shafts will be constructed. At the deck level, reinforcement is ongoing inside the box-girder: a concrete overlay is placed over the piles, on the compression slab; concrete cracks will be grouted, damaged concrete zones repaired, and additional longitudinal prestressing cables will be placed.
