INGPHI team went on a study trip to Istanbul where they visited three bridges of extraordinary sizes and with complex construction techniques.

The INGPHI team had the chance to have presentations by the bridges’ operator about the design and construction of each visited structure.

The 15 July Martyrs Bridge (also known as the First Bosphorus Bridge) is a suspension bridge with a total length of 1560 m and a main span of 1074 m.

The Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge (or Third Bosphorus Bridge) is a suspension and cable-stayed bridge with a total length of 1875 m and a main span of 1408 m. This bridge has the world’s highest masts, which are 330-m high.

Finally, the Osman Gazi bridge, in Izmit, is a suspension bridge with a total length of 2682 m and a main span of 1550 m. This bridge has the world’s 4th longest span.
