The birds island house wins an award

The birds island house received the Distinction Bois Award 2023 for its “high quality architectural value”.

This pavilion, built for the Cercle ornithologique, is located in Préverenges, opposite to the birds island. Designed in collaboration with Localarchitecture, the structure of the house is nest-inspired and is intended to be very slender. Its light frame, a structural cage composed of nailed boards, supports the pleated CLT roof.

The structure presents a contrast between the use of contemporary techniques for the cross-laminated timber roof and older methods for framing composed of rough sawn boards.
