The second beam is in place at La Redoute

After several months of construction, the pre-stressed reinforced concrete beams of the Redoute Bridge are in place. The deck of the existing bridge has been used as a work platform for the construction of the two edge beams of the new bridge, starting in early 2022. These two elements, 32 m long, 3 m high of 200 t each, were then put in place on either side of the existing bridge during two night-time operations under total shutdown of the SBB rail traffic, in April and June. This lifting required the assembly of two 550 t/m and 600 t/m autocranes, each weighted with more than 100 t of counterweight.

The construction site can now continue with the partial demolition of the old structure and the construction of the bridge’s running slab.
